Identification of Toxoplasmosis in Women by Serology in the Baghdad Province, Iraq

Introduction: Toxoplasmosis is one of the most common parasitic zoonoses around world. It caused by Toxoplasma gondii. This study aimed to detect prevalence toxoplasma in women Baghdad province. Method: One hundred and five blood samples were taken from who had abortions or at risk abortion admitted clinic province during period 2021-2022. In accordance with protocol, examined for T. gondii IgM IgG using ELISA method (Biotech, USA), latex agglutination test (LAT) serving as a screening test. Using sterile, disposable hypodermic traveler needles tubes, patients’ arms used collect 3 ccs venous samples. The serum was obtained centrifuging 14,000 rpm 20 minutes; it then stored 80 °C. All necessary variables analysis included questionnaire that created data collection. Results: seropositivity undergone an 44.8% when LAT, opposed 6.7% 24.8% IgG, respectively. proportion patients previously two significantly higher (55.3%). contrast, only 31 out 47 individuals (66%) tested positive winter-spring season, compared 16 (34%) summer-autumn period.
